Dragon Café In The City Workshops

We look forward to welcoming you to our eclectic mix of in person and zoom sessions. 

On Wednesday 7th June MFC also brings you the Dragon Café in the City project in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London. Join us for a fantastic mix of events online and in person!


Join us at Shoe Lane Library for: 

12-2pm - Healthy Streets: Drop in information & advice encouraging walking & cycling in the City.

12:15pm repeated at 12:45pm (20 mins) - Standing Stretch:

Reenergise your day with 20 minutes of stretching with Anya, Balance Garden.

Wear your usual clothes. No experience necessary.

12:15pm (60mins) - Dan Dare - Pilot of the future

Focus on this fantasy Eagle comic hero of the 1950s. Discover links to Shoe Lane, and to at least one iconic, City leader, in mental health support. With references to the social and political transformations sweeping post war Britain.  With Lester Hillman, Writer & City Walks Guide.

Start and finish at Shoe Lane Library, with a short walk exploring nearby landmarks.

1:30pm (60 mins) - Comic Cartoons:

Fancy having a go at your own comic cartoons?  Illustrator & writer Richy k Chandler will show you how.  Drawing materials provided or bring your own. No experience needed.

3pm (60mins) Paint and Relax: Drop In!

Stay on or drop into Shoe Lane Library for a relaxed, self-led painting session. No registration needed and materials are provided.

5:30pm (60 mins) -Claymation:

Join us for this special end of the day workshop.

Start off by making a small character from coloured clay. Then bring to life with stop motion animation to make a short film clip.

No technical knowledge or experience needed, so chill out, pull up a chair and spend a creative hour with artist and animator Reza Ben Gazra.

Complimentary hot drinks & fruit will keep the munchies at bay.

6pm (45 mins): - Qi Gong

Combining slow graceful movements with mental concentration, this ancient Chinese practise is said to help improve posture, strength, and respiratory function. 

With Tony from Balance Garden. No experience needed. Wear loose comfortable clothes. 2nd of 5 series of workshops
