Timetable
12:00pm: Doors Open - Come and relax, catch-up and chat. Hot and cold drinks will be available.
12:30pm - 2:00pm: Poetry with Emma McGordon
We are extremely happy to welcome Emma to the Dragon Café for her first Poetry session. Emma’s sessions are a fun, engaging and accessible way of exploring writing your own poetry. Emma’s use of free writing and poetic form makes this an ideal workshop for everyone, from beginners with no experience of writing poetry to seasoned writers. Emma a multi award winning writer and performer currently dividing time between their native West Cumbria and London. She is particularly interested in working-class narratives and voices. Much of her writing and spoken word is semi-autobiographical. Emma takes pride in being close to vulnerability and truth in her work.

2pm: Warm Food: This week at The Dragon Café we have free hot food available! This will be served at 2pm after the creative writing workshop.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: The Dragon Café Singing Group
In this Session participants are invited to come together in celebration of the positive impact of singing and the voice. This session facilitated by our singing lead Vivien Ellis will be an energy filled journey through a mix of singing and vocal styles. From sea shanties, to old English chants, choral favourites written by the singing group and some improvised rounds and soundscapes. There is something in this session for everyone.
4:45pm - 5:45pm: Danceworks
For our penultimate session this week it’s time for our uplifting and re-energising weekly dance. We have some great music and a mix of old and new dances to throw yourself into. As always, this session will be skilfully led by our resident chorographers Ariella and Renzo. No experience necessary, come along and join in.
6:30pm - 7:30pm: A Windrush celebration in music with Helen McDonald
Along with her fellow musicians Helen will tell the Story of Cordelia a Jamaican woman who come on The Empire Windrush in 1948 looking for her brother who had joined the RAF in the 2nd World war in 1940. This will be followed by a short set of traditional Jamaican reggae music and the chance to dance.
