Join us as we spend the day getting creative with our range of in-person workshops!
11am: Doors Open
Come on and join us for light refreshments, hot and cold drinks and healthy snacks available.
11:15am – 12:45pm: Creative Writing with Wordsmiths
In this fun workshop, attendees are guided through structured writing activities and games to enable them to create and share a mixture of fictional and true stories based on their own experiences.
The group setting allows each person to firstly build confidence by sharing work that they have created from nothing, and secondly to build empathy towards other people in their community by hearing their stories in their words. The goal is to enable a creative way to communicate and to understand thoughts and ideas whilst having fun.
1pm – 2:30pm: Southwark Playhouse at The Dragon Café.
We are very pleased to welcome The Southwark Playhouse to the Dragon café for the first of a series of sessions they will be delivering at The Dragon Café in 2025. If you are interested in any area of theatre from writing, improvisation, acting, voice work, theatre devising, and performance then these sessions are definitely for you.
2:30pm: Food served:
This week we will be continuing with the MFC menu. Expect lots of fresh and healthy options, including an assortment of salads, fruit, fresh breads, olives, finger foods, and much more.
3pm – 4pm: Found Nature, A creative stroll and workshop with artist Wendy Scott.
4pm – 5pm: A drawing and collage workshop with Artist Wendy Scott.
Join artist Wendy Scott for a creative stroll around some of the streets and green spaces surrounding the venue. We will be collecting materials and taking rubbings along the way. Plus, a follow-on drawing and collage workshop inspired by your sketches, rubbings and found materials once we return to the venue.
5:15pm – 6:15pm: Gong Bath with Cathy Eastburn
Welcome in the first buds of spring with a Gong Bath.
The vibrations and sound of a gong bath are an immediate and effective way to achieve deep relaxation and enhance well-being. They are particularly recommended for anyone struggling with insomnia, anxiety, depression, anger issues or chronic pain... but can be enjoyed by and helpful for everyone.
Lie back and enjoy the healing sounds of magnificent large gongs, played alongside Himalayan singing bowls, quartz crystal singing bowls and Javanese bronze percussion. Sessions are led by experienced gong-player and trained sound therapist Cathy Eastburn.
