We will be at Holy Cross Church, Cromer Street, for the Bloomsbury Festival on Saturday October 19th.

Join the Dragon Café singers for a singing workshop & performance!


11:30pm: MFC gathering point at YMCA Cromer Street opens.
If you wish to arrive at the festival a little early to take in the wonderful street events and exhibitions, MFC staff members will be stationed at the YMCA to welcome you to the festival and direct you to our various events throughout the day.

12pm: Explore the festival on Cromer Street.
MFC at the Bloomsbury festival is part of a larger scale outdoor event, The Cromer Street Family Day that the festival is holding the same day – you are welcome to come earlier to enjoy all the activities.

 

12:40pm: Singers assemble on steps of Holy Cross Church Cromer Street. (Inside if wet)

 

1pm -1:30pm: Dragon Café Singers performance.
Come and join the Dragon Café Singers as they perform a small selection of favorite songs from the groups repertoire on the steps of The Holy Cross Church on Cromer Street. The DC singers will be led by Vivien Ellis and accompanied by accordionist Martina Schwarz.

 

1:30- 2pm: Refreshments Break.

 

2pm – 3:30pm: Singing workshop with Vivien Ellis inside Holy Cross Church, Cromer Street.

 An open rehearsal/workshop for our SING BALLADS OF BLOOMSBURY event on Friday 25 October, suitable for all adult ages and 12+ (under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult). No specific singing level is required to join in.

 All of the songs you learn will be part of an event which is looking back at the history of the streets in Bloomsbury and around the St Giles area.  There will also be short readings and some choirs with their own additional song performances.

3:45pm: Collective viewing of exhibitions. A Group Walk to some of the fantastic exhibitions open to the public on this festival day.

Lyrics and Guide Tracks to learn songs all participants will take part in can be downloaded via the links below, and range from a song from the musical Oliver to a well-known calypso and an historic ballad which has been set to music and adapted for you to join in.
