On Wednesday 22nd March MFC also brings you the Dragon Café in the City project in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London. Join us for a fantastic mix of events online and in person!

12:15pm (30 mins) - Self Massage:

Focus on the hands with sports massage expert Leonie Lawson.

Wear your usual clothes. No experience necessary. Massage oil provided

1pm (60mins) - Writing for

Wellbeing

Join our pressure-free workshop led by Wordsmiths. Have fun with writing and share your stories. A mix of structured writing activities and games to enable you to create and share fictional and true stories based on your own experiences. Wordsmiths' workshops are designed to be inclusive of all abilities and experiences - the goal for each attendee isn't to create a perfectly worded masterpiece, the goal is to feel more confident and creative - and to enjoy yourself!

 In person at Shoe Lane Library.

2pm (60mins) Paint and Relax: Drop In!


Drop into Shoe Lane Library for a relaxed, self-led painting session using watercolours. Practise techniques, work on your own project, or copy pieces from some of the library’s art books – feel free to get creative!

6pm-(45mins)- Pilates NEW

First of a series of Pilates sessions via zoom with a new tutor, Giada from Balance Garden.

No experience necessary. Wear loose comfortable clothes.

7:30pm-(60mins)- Embroidery for darning, decoration and distraction NEW

Join Helen Burridge for this first of three mini series of workshops. Hand stitching inspiration based on visible mending and repair work. 

Beginners can experiment with Sachiko, a simple running stitch repeated to form mindful rhythms, or develop more elaborate techniques to draw the eye away from (or towards) functional repairs.

Participants will need: item to repair, or scrap fabric to practice on. Hand sewing needles and threads to match the eye size, e.g., wools, embroidery threads, cotton floss etc. Pins, scissors. An iron may be useful.
