Dragon Café In The City Workshops

Hot of the press: Puzzles. Collage. Massage.

We look forward to welcoming you to our eclectic mix of in person and zoom sessions. 

On Wednesday 26th October MFC also brings you the Dragon Café in the City project in collaboration with Shoe Lane Library and the City of London. Join us for a fantastic mix of events online and in person!


Join us at Shoe Lane Library for two live lunchtime workshops: 

12:15pm (30mins): Self Massage -

Destress with self massage, focussing on the hands and wrists, Sports massage therapist Leonie Lawson will show you how to ease tension, aches & strains away. Wear your usual clothes. No experience necessary.  Massage oil provided.

1:00pm (60mins): Create your own newspaper with Artist Eloise Hawser

An opportunity to use original hot press lettering, and historic objects such as a ‘stereo’ and a ‘flong’ to make your own ‘news page’ collage.

Get up close to archival images, maps & newspapers as you learn more about Shoe Lane’s place as a major centre of newspaper production the 20th Century.

3pm (90mins) -Read and Relax: Perfect Puzzles

Get quizzical with our reading and conversation group as we focus on word games, riddles, and puzzles of all kinds!

 

6pm-(45mins)- Slow Stretch NEW

Shake off the tension at the end of the day with this new workshop led by Marina, Balance Garden. Start off with some easy breathing exercises, then move onto a relaxed blend of standing and seated stretches designed to increase flexibility and sooth the mind. No experience necessary.

7:30pm-(100mins)- Small Objects of Desire

Mixed media & found objects two-part course led by artist & writer Cas Holmes. (12 Oct & 26 Oct)

Explore design & creation of cloth like papers (momigami) and create mixed media collage with stitch and glue.

Cas is interested in the liminal, ‘in between’ spaces connecting land, place, and environment. Her work combines mixed media with found materials and stitch to ‘Paint with Cloth’.

Publications include ‘Embroidering the Everyday’ & ‘Textile Landscape’.
